Data engineering
Make business data
easier to trust and use.
Rillbridge builds data pipelines that bring information from source systems into a consistent, usable form. Our team works on ingestion, transformation, validation and the checks that show what arrived, what changed and what needs attention.
A useful fit
Connect the source
to a dependable result.
This service fits recurring file processing, inconsistent reporting inputs and data that needs preparing for another application. We begin with the source, the business meaning of each field and the consumer that will use the result.
Ingestion and transformation
Batch or event-driven flows for agreed files, database records or system events. Source-to-target mappings make transformations and data assumptions visible.
Data quality and reconciliation
Validation for required fields, formats, duplicates and business rules. Invalid records get a defined route for review, with counts that help explain the difference between input and output.
Pipeline operation
Scheduling, state tracking, failure visibility and rerun behavior. Operational notes explain how to recognize a problem, recover safely and understand what has already been processed.
Possible project scopes
Improve the flow you rely on.
Start with the source, the expected output and the gap between them. These examples show useful places to begin.
Standardize incoming files
Normalize fields from agreed file formats, apply record-level checks and separate accepted records from those needing correction. Export an output another tool can consume.
Prepare a reporting dataset
Combine agreed operational sources into a consistent dataset, with documented definitions and reconciliation. Dashboard design or business analysis can be scoped separately where needed.
Repair an unreliable pipeline
Review a flow with missing records, repeated failures or duplicate output. Identify the failing assumptions and improve validation, recovery and operational visibility within a defined scope.
Delivery and acceptance
Follow the records
through the whole pipeline.
We agree sample inputs, output definitions, data ownership and processing frequency before building. Tests use representative cases, including malformed records and source changes, to check the rules and the recovery path.
- Source completeness, field mappings and transformation correctness.
- Duplicate detection, rejected-record explanations and count reconciliation.
- Behavior when inputs arrive late, change shape or are processed again.
- Access requirements, deployment guidance and a runbook for the agreed operating workflow.
Data questions
Agree what
“good data” means.
Can you work with our current data platform?
We review the platform, interfaces and operating constraints first. The scope may extend an existing pipeline or add a focused component rather than move everything to a new platform.
Do we need real-time processing?
Only if the business needs it. We agree how fresh the data must be and assess volume, cost and recovery requirements before choosing batch or event-driven processing.
Can a pipeline fix incorrect source data?
It can flag, standardize or route records using agreed rules. Missing context and disputed business definitions still need a source owner to decide what is correct; we make those decisions visible.
What access is required?
Representative samples, source definitions and controlled access to the relevant systems are a useful start. Sensitive information, processing locations and permissions need to be agreed before implementation.
